The Alright Guy Countdown
Remember Alright Guy countdowns? I DO. For those of you not In The Know, AG Counrdowns were a phenomena in the early nineties. Alright Guy Tom and I used to sit in my room and record tapes of our current favorite songs. We would do this while sitting on our asses playing video games (Super Mario Kart and NHL '94 come immediately to mind.) In between songs we would fuck around, set things on fire as well as announcing the next song when we felt like it. We would then make copies of the tape and deliver it to the other Alright Guys.
Tom's not here so I can't do one today. If I were a dozen years younger, Tom and I would probably be sitting around playing Culcept and smashing dishes. While making an Alright Guy Countdown. I have better tools now, though they're more complicated now. Simplicity was one of the main ideas behind the AG Countdowns. With that in mind, here's what's on my playlist at the time being:
Tool - 10,000 Days
Pearl Jam - Inside Job
Iron Maiden - Dream of Mirrors
The Butthole Surfers - Who was in my Room Last Night
Burning Brides - Heart Full of Black
David Gilmour - Where we Start
Rush - YYZ
Primus - My Friend Fats
Helmet - Unsung
Pink Floyd - On the Turning Away
Good times.
