Number 46: It's a Wonderful Life
It's a Wonderful Life is one of those Christmas movies everyone has seen, an annual classic after 60 years. In case you're one of the few who hasn't seen it, let me sum things up for you in a tidy little internet package with a tidy little internet bow. James Stewart plays George Bailey - a good guy who has a nice little family and helps people out in a nice little town. The family isn't especially well off and he makes just enough money to get by, though everyone thought he was destined for more. Anyhow, it's the holidays and some bad shit happens and he yells at his daughter Zuzu about something to do with her flower petals. And there's the bad guy in the story, Mr Potter who is a big dick.
George starts to think that maybe the world would've been a better place if he hadn't been born. He is visited by a fruity old angel who shows him what things would look like if he had never existed. Kat says that the Angel's name is Clarence and that the two cops are named Burt and Ernie. Biff would have built a huge casino in the middle of the town, there would be whores and crime everywhere, and Potter would've married George's mother. So all of that really sucks.
It's a Wonderful Life is a timeless movie. I had never seen it until a few years ago, and I found at the right time. I'm a big sappy fool, and this movie appeals to my optimism, my sense of honor and overall Alright Guy-ness. I'm gonna go play WoW now.
