American TV hasn't hit Rock Bottom Yet

Now I'll admit that American TV has gone through a slow spot in recent years, with the rise of Reality TV, Media Circuses, and a general lack of a single new Star Trek Franchise on Network Television (I'll admit G4 has definately supplied me with my fix in this department, but reruns just aren't the same as new material)

American TV is riduclously in need of fresh blood and I hope with the new fall season upon us we will have something new and interesting to entertain us.

Still, there is also the chance that another year will go by where I sit by and let the entertainment industry not get the picture and show the same boring garbage again and again.

However.. As bad as TV has been in recent years, it could be worse boys and girls.. it could be alot worse. To illustrate this, I've gone and found two different instances of Television from far away just to give you an just an idea why we aren't in last place. You might not understand the language in the following clips, but keep your audio on anyways.

Tongue Twister Testicle Challenge

In this popular Japanese Game show, Bob Barker meets Bob Saget as constatants square off (literally) to complete tongue twisters in a given amount of time. But should they fail, a big black flyswatter smacks them in the balls. BRILLIANT!

Old Man Bites Tenderly

I have no idea what is happening in this show, but the basic rules are:
  1. Show the 6 constestants a word or phrase.
  2. They play a round of Old Maid.
  3. Something fucked up happens to the loser.

It also takes place in a library where it seems to be very important that you at least attempt to stay quiet.

I guess the moral of this story is, you may not like TV here, but you could always be faced with something worse. I'm sure there are other examples I could provide, maybe this could become a monthly bit.
