I Don't want my MTV
It is a good practice, I think, to try to remove from my life habits I deem bad and include habits I believe to be good. I'm going to go and pour myself a bowl of Honey Nut Clusters cereal right now.
I have the cereal. Anyhow, regarding bad habits:
- It's been nearly 3 years since I've had any sort of TV, even local channels. There are things I miss; I'd love to have ESPN, The Discovery Channel, NFL Season Ticket and NHL Center Ice. Throw in a few movie channels and that's all I'd need. There are many more things I don't miss: I don't miss commercials: 90% of them are insulting and dumb, and I hate being pandered to. Never forget that they are all desperately after your money. Reality TV - every time I bring this up, I try to formulate some rational, calm discussion about it but always end up just saying something like "For fuck's sake I hate that ridiculous bullshit. Is our country honestly THIS stupid?" This time will be no different. For me, TV was a bad habit because for many people watching TV is the default activity. It's pretty easy to get home, flop down in a chair and channel surf while your brain leaks out of your ears.
Kat- For me it's been almost 5 years since I've actually sat down and watched TV. I used to watch the news every now and then just to get updated, but now I could care less. TV is ridiculous, except for History, Discovery, and the Learning Channels.
- Smoking. We've quit. Several times. It's easy for us to be lured back, but luckily it's always been easy to quit. We Rock!
Good habits:
- Eating healthy. I do not know how to do this. We go shopping 4 nights a week because we are picky when it comes to food. Though we've mostly cut soda out of our diet, we still eat a lot of frozen/canned food. I do not know how to eat healthy. Well, I have made chicken various times with real vegetables, and do not drink soda anymore. I need a good cookbook, not filled with food that's all slapped together and said to be "gourmet". Yuck!
- Sleep habits. These are poor for me. Always have been, probably always will be. I've been going to bed earlier and rising earlier recently though (about 1am to about 9am.)
Update: I've finished the cereal.
