Real Men play Big Bunny Crazy Castle.

Ok, stop laughing.

Some of the best games I've ever played have featured cartoon characters, rapists, and child molesters as protagonists. Mickey Mouse and the Castle of Illusion, Ducktales, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, and Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle are examples of this phenomena. I realize Mike Tyson wasn't the protagonist in his game, but I had a nice little theme going so let's not screw it up by checking it for logical merit.

In Crazy Castle, the idea is that Honey Bunny (who? Couch probably knows) has been kidnapped, and now Bugs must journey through 60 levels of PURE HELL, battling the untold evils of Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, Wile E Coyote and Daffy Duck to free this presumably female rabbit. The game design is remarkably simple, as is the control scheme. Each stage has 8 carrots scattered throughout, a few items, and villains attempting to destroy good old Bugs Bunny. Bugs gets around by walking up and down stairs and climbing through pipes. There is the occasional boxing glove or 2 ton weight he can use to crush his enemies. The game is all about evasion however. The stage is completed when you have collected all 8 carrots. You are given an extra life and sent to the next stage,

Yosemite Sam is a rootin' tootin' sonofabitch.

This is one of those easy to learn but challenging as hell sort of games. You use only the D-pad and a single button for firing the boxing glove. At higher levels, this is a game full of close calls, narrow victories, and the agony of defeat.

The is just as fun today as ever. Crazy Castle has seen 4 Gameboy games and a Game Gear port since the original NES version. I read that the original Japanese version of this game featured Roger Rabbit. Roger got his own goddamn NES game over here, so there's no loss there. So anyways, stop laughing at me and give this game a try. I know you all own the orignal NES game at home, so let's start downloading those ROMs people!

prior to "Space Jam," Honey Bunny was Bugs' main love interest and female counterpart. Lola has since replaced her in recent cartoons such as baby looney toons. Lola has by far more sex appeal for a bunny then Honey ever did. Honey has always had sort of a 1950's leave it to beaver mom kinda look to her. And she was gray where as Lola is pink. I never played that game though.
